The Subject that i've enjoyed in autumn semester

Hi everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today i’m going to talk about my favorite subject in this semester. First of all, this semester I’ve studied 5 subjects and all of them are difficult but not impossible. The subject than I’ve enjoyed more is Simulacion. In this subject we have to hide a treatment for our patients, after we made a diagnostic and learned the theoretical part. This subject isn’t always done in a classroom, we have to go to ‘’preclinico’’, wich is a like a clinical box where you have your patient (or ‘’tipodonto with the fantoma’’) and your dental instrumental like the turbine, the micromotor and the eyector.

In this subject, we have to see the practical area of all the dentistry’s areas like periodontics, Occlusion, Operatoria, Endodontics, etc. For example, now we are in Operatoria and we are doing cavities and restorations with resin and amalgam. Before this, we learned about Periodontics disease and that was funny.

I’ve enjoyed this subject because It is the closest to the dentistry like a profession. With this subject I could ensure than I am studyind the correct thing. I enjoy everyday than I have this subject, although is four days at week at 8.30am. Something it is frustrating, but worth it.

Someone I admire in my field

Someone I admire in my field

Hi! Today i'm going to talk about one person who i admire. He is the Dr Greene Vardiman Black. He was born near Winchester on 1836 and is known as one of the founders of modern dentistry in the United States. He studied dentistry for 20 months!! (as was common at the time, today we have to study 6 years minimum) followed by an apprenticeship.
He is known as the father of operative dentistry. His works more important was a research about ideal cavity preparation.

With his investigations horganized 'Black's Classification of Caries Lesions', a classification based on the tooth type and the cavity location or tooth surfaces involve, which is still in use today (we use in our university!!). Since that time, only one more category has been added to his classification system.

Personally, i think than Dr Greene opened us a huge world of dentistry knowledge. Also, he  gave us tools to have a mundial organization about caries lesions. For example, with his Classification today we can do studies in different parts of the world about caries lesions and all this studies can be understood by anyone.

We dont have to forget this importants persons, because thanks to them, today, practice the dentistry is a little easier and more complete than old times.
